The Toddler Program serves 2- to 3-year-olds. Parents are welcome to visit the toddler classes in the fall before the year that their child would attend. Admission is on a rolling basis, and families are usually notified in early January after their application has been received and they have visited the program.

Nearly 3s is for children who are at least 31 months old by Sept. 1 and meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:15 to 11:15 a.m. The goal of the class is to help toddlers master separating from their caregivers so that they feel comfortable in the classroom without their caregivers being present. To help make the separation process as smooth as possible, parents and caregivers are asked to stay for the first few classes and are welcome to stay beyond that if beneficial for their child. Adults are expected to stay on site for children not yet fully toilet trained. In the Spring, this program also adds Wednesday classes.

Both programs are staffed by a teacher and undergraduate assistants.

Teachers
 

Jennifer Schlegel is the lead teacher in the lead teacher for the Toddler Program. She has a B.S. in Early Childhood Education from Shippensburg University, and an M.S.Ed./Special Education Certification from Cabrini College. Alexis Elkins, is the Assistant teacher for the toddler Program. She has a degree from Villanova University and has worked as a school support professional in both preschool and kindergarten settings. aelkins@brynmawr.edu
