The Metamorphosis
By Franz Kafka
Adapted for the Stage and Directed by Catharine Slusar
On a day like any other, Gregor Samsa awakens to find himself transformed into a giant insect. This transformation goes unquestioned by Gregor and his family, though Gregor feels trapped and his family members grudgingly alter their own daily lives to accommodate the change. Similarly, Gregor’s story requires the audience to examine their own lives and wonder what keeps them trapped: Why don’t we question our circumstances? What keeps us from standing up and making our voices heard? What keeps us from fulfilling our dreams and promise? What must we do to metamorphosize and grow?

FALL OF FREEDOM
While Gregor’s story is often read as one of resistance to oppression of various sorts, both familial and societal, on November 21 and 22, our performances will be the Bi-College Theater Program’s way to join arts organizations across the country for the Fall of Freedom. Fall of Freedom is a grassroots movement encouraging creative artists of all varieties to join together this season as they stage individual acts of creative resistance. If you happen to join us on November 21 or 22, we’ll be holding talk-backs after the show on resistance, freedom of speech, and revolution. But of course, please join us for any performance that works in your schedule! If you’d like to know more about Fall of Freedom, please visit their website here:
ARTS FOOD DRIVE
Additionally, the Arts Program here at ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵ has begun collecting shelf stable foods to donate to the Narberth Community Food Bank. If you’d like to help our effort to feed people in our community, please feel free to bring a shelf stable food offering or an office supply to the show with you! Please pay close attention to the lists of needed office supplies and foods on this page, as the food bank cannot accept items other than what they need: . We’ll make sure your donations reach the food bank in the week following the performance.
